We strive to provide all of our patients with the highest quality and most advanced dental care. With this in mind, we have a piece of equipment to help you better understand and “see” your dental health. Advances in modern video camera equipment have allowed dental manufacturers to develop a very small video camera for use in the dental office. With a camera about the size of a pen, we can film your mouth and present it as an image on a monitor that is magnified 10 to 40 times its natural size.
See for yourself the kind of care you need! For years, we have described diseases of the teeth and gums and drawn pictures to attempt to illustrate the problem and the needed treatment. The old adage, “A picture is worth a thousand words,” could not be truer when using the intraoral camera. A sterilized, small, probe-shaped camera is moved around the inside of your mouth. This will provide you with a tooth-by-tooth video exam of your teeth, where you can see your teeth enlarged in living color on our computer screen during your appointment. We can freeze and store the picture of the inside of your mouth for a bigger and better look and then take an instant photograph for you and your records.
This painless, no-radiation technique allows you to see problems such as worn-out and defective fillings, fractured teeth, decay, bleeding gums, and plaque. Also, the intraoral camera allows us to see things that may not appear with a traditional X-ray and can help us detect minor problems before they become more significant. Together, we can discuss a treatment plan for restoring your mouth to optimal health.
